of the World Curling Tour, the men’s tournament will provide the first curling action of 2019 with 26 teams competing across four days. The event continues to attract a strong international line-up, with Switzerland’s 2018 Olympic bronze medallists Team de Cruz and Norway’s 2018 Olympians and former world and European Champions, Thomas Ulsrud’s rink among the leading overseas challengers. However there will be strong audience interest and support for the Scottish teams, with the recently crowned European Champions Team Mouat, Boost National Grand Slam Champions Team Paterson and Perthshire’s Team Glen Muirhead - Scotland’s 2018 Olympic representatives who have just claimed their first Tour title this season – in the field.
Iseabail Mactaggart, Director of Strategy and Partnership at BBC ALBA, said: “BBC ALBA is committed to providing distinctive coverage of high quality sport for our audience and coverage of Perth Masters curling will further enhance this offering to viewers.
“The profile of curling has been raised significantly in Scotland over the past fifteen years thanks to the success enjoyed at Winter Olympics and World Championship events. Having first broadcast from the Perth Masters back in 2016, we hope BBC ALBA can help to push that recognition even higher with live coverage of intense competition amongst these elite international players taking place at the heart of Perth.
“We look forward to the tournament and the expert analysis of Jackie Lockhart who will join us for the four days of action.”
