SPONSORS' DAY IN PERTH

Primary General Limited, a commercial underwriting company, sponsors of British Curling, invited some of their customers to a day on the ice with  the benefit of coaching from GB squad athletes.

It was the first time on the ice for many but there was plenty of help on hand from squad members David Murdoch, Pete Smith, Ewan MacDonald, Eve Muirhead and Paralympic squad members Michael McCreadie, Aileen Neilson, Angie Malone and Tom Killin. And to keep them right coaches Derek Brown, David Hay, Nancy Murdoch and Tom Pendreigh were standing by.

The novice curlers saw film of GB success at the 2002 Olympics and Scottish teams winning at World Championships.

Then it was on to the ice for some tips on how to throw a stone, before going  into a 'real' game.

The newcomers soon got the hang of the game and had a great afternoon trying the sport. They all came off the ice with a new understanding and appreciation of the sport.
