Angela Malone

My curling career began after a come and try day at Braehead curling rink after watching the 2003 world international qualifiers. I was hooked and trained and learned how to play the game properly through Braehead Wheelchair Curling Club.
I was selected to play for Scotland in 2004 and thereafter in 2005 where we played on home ground winning the gold at Braehead with family, friends and supporters cheering us on, It was totally euphoric! 2006 paralympic games in Torino were the ultimate and very surreal, coming home very proudly with the silver medal.
Juggling motherhood ( daughters Ashley and Lara) with University and being on the ice five days a week with the support from the Scottish Institute of Sport I was able to develop a balance to train without it affecting my homelife and study ( business administration).
Now a full time athlete at the Scottish Institute, I am able to access support from strength & conditioning, physiotherapy, sport physcology.
In the summer months I sail and canoe on our Scottish Lochs and wheelchair push along the Forth and Clyde canal in between our summer on ice GB camps in Inverness with our coach Tom Pendreigh. My short term goals are to reach ultimate fitness and to improve on my curling figures in preparation for Vancouver 2010.
