The Establishment of British Curling Limited

Prior to 2006, British international representative curling was organised and administered by the British Curling Association (BCA) and the British Wheelchair Curling Association (BWCA). In 2004, UK Sport communicated with both independent bodies requesting a review of their current roles, combined with a motion that both bodies consider working more closely together.

Throughout 2005 and early 2006, the BCA and BWCA invested a considerable amount of time and effort in administrative planning for a new British governing body, post-Turin Winter Olympic Games in 2006. The culmination of this work was the agreement and creation of “British Curling Limited” (BC) in early 2006, to replace the two previous British governing bodies (BCA & BWCA). It was agreed that this new body would be operational by late 2006 and have the organisational capability to implement its inaugural performance plan from November 2006.
